The Grizzlies are red hot, they won their L4 games while defeating some good teams like PHI, MIA & ATL. However, I think they are a bit overrated for today and they really had some matchup edges on those wins:
They caught the 76ers playing without Embiid and in a tired/flat spot of 3in4-B2B, the 76ers didn’t have any energy on that game; Against Miami, Valanciunas dominated the game against a Heat team that plays with an undersized center in Bam Adebayo; In the last game against ATL, the Hawks didn’t have Clint Capela – their best big defensive player and the Grizzlies punished them with 60 points in the paint.
For today, the Knicks have size to hang around with the Grizzlies. Actually, I think the Knicks have a fundamental size matchup edge with Julius Randle vs. Kyle Anderson. The Grizzlies would have to counter with a Brandon Clarke & Valanciunas pairing on the frontcourt, but Clarke is doubtful for today.
NYK offense is on a great flow lately, they have been hitting more perimeter shots, in L3 games they went 49-101 from 3pts – almost 50% mark with some good volume. So I expect them to keep up with the Grizzlies offensively today.
