In theory, this play doesn’t look like a good idea as we are dealing with the worst offense in the league (DAL) against the #26 ranked offense of the Nets.
However, both teams have improved dramatically offensively lately.
Behind the stellar play of Michael Porter Jr., the Nets have a decent 116.0 Off. Rtg in their L4 games. Not only are they attempting a high vol% of 3-pointers, but they are also attacking the paint and crashing the offensive glass. They are coming from their best inside offensive game of the season w/ 66 points in the paint against NOP.
Meanwhile, the Mavericks have changed their identity: They have a traditional Point Guard running the show in Ryan Nembhard who is doing an incredible job; Anthony Davis is not only back, but he is playing @ center position. With better spacing to operate, Cooper Flagg is enjoying it and averaging almost 24 points per game in L4 games while being ultra efficient.
The current state of these offenses does not resemble being #26 & #30 ranked offenses for the season, so naturally we are getting a low total number today.
